With its arrival, the Redmi Note 5 comes looking to repeat the success of its predecessor (The Note 4) that established itself as the king of the mid-range smartphones.
Even with its game-changing forerunner, the new incarnation of the Note series will face stiff competition for the crown due to the growth of the “budget phones” segment during 2017.
The Moto G5 Plus, Xiaomi’s Mi A1, Huawei’s Honor 7X and Honor 9 Lite are just some of the devices that are currently leading the charge in this popular segment.
Specs-wise, most of the Note 5’s details are not confirmed, although most people expect it to share many similarities with the Redmi 5 that was launched in December in China, we will only know for sure on February 22.
So far, there are reports that the device will come in two variants: the 4GB RAM and 64GB, and the 6GB RAM and 64GB ROM option.
For some, the news of this upcoming launch were a little bit surprising after it was rumored last year that the Chinese brand was going to pull the plug on the Redmi Note lineup, but a post in the Mi Community revealed the Note 5 was, in fact, being tested internally.
On February 22, the people will know for sure if the Redmi Note 5 will obtain the crown as the most selling mid-range phone in India.
