Cook is the first Apple’s CEO visiting India, except for Steve Jobs who came here as a backpacking hippie in the mid 1970s.
After arriving on Tuesday night, Cook first visit was the famous temple of Siddhivinayak Temple in Mumbai, then he proceed to meet several important people like Anant Ambani, the son of Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani, Vodafone India CEO Sunil Sood, Tata Group chairman Cyrus Mistry and TCS CEO Natarajan Chandrasekaran, among others.
Tim Cook pretends to visit Hyderabad and formally announce a $25 million technology development center to focus on Apple Maps, he is also expected in Bangalore and Delhi, where Apple also announced plans to establish new iOS App Design and Development Accelerator.
There are reports that Tim Cook is going to meet Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the meeting will be center on the recent decision of Indian government to approve single-branded Apple Stores, but it has been denied the sale of refurbished iPhones in the country, considering the price-sensitive market that represent India to Apple, the low cost of old iPhones and the high one of the recent models doesn’t keep the interest of the consumers. However Tim Cook visit it may let him know the existing mobile phone market, understand the country and find a solution to this problem.
