Super Mario Run will not run without an active mobile data connection

After hogging headlines all over the world with the forthcoming release of the first Super Mario game for mobile devices, Nintendo confirms that the first installment of the famous plumber adventures for iOS will not work offline or without an active data connection (Wi-Fi or mobile data).

While this decision may generate some hesitation among players that would have aimed to enjoy this app all the time, most critics agree that if the gameplay and the overall performance is top notch, they may ignore the connection thing.

As for Nintendo, the founder, and creator of the world’s famous game character, Shigeru Miyamoto, stated that this measure is not only a way to ensure the quality of the product.

They also see it as a countermeasure to any potential piracy issues that may flare up when the game start hitting devices.

Miyamoto also stated that they view their software as their most valuable property, and while they discussed the possibility of playing the single-player world tour mode offline, they scratched because it brought many complications with the other two ways (Toad Rally and Kingdom) when the connection is back.

At the end when it’s all said and done, Super Mario Run is going to face the same challenges that Pokemon Go did face when it came out.

That is dealing with the fact that an entertaining and potentially addicting game (exclusively for iOS at the moment of its release, but will arrive at Android soon) that you cannot enjoy without an internet connection.
