iOS 11, iMac Pro, new MacBook and iPad Pro took center stage at Apple’s WWDC17

On Monday, June 5, Apple once again captivated the tech world with the announcements of several new products and major software updates as the primary focus of the first day of their WWDC 2017 keynote.

Among the new hardware that the Cupertino-based company will be launching shortly, there were the iMac and the iMac Pro, a new generation of MacBook and MacBook Pro, the introduction of the iPad Pro and a brand-new home speaker called HomePod.

As for the Software related news, Tim Cook announced High Sierra - The newest incarnation of their lauded MacOS -, The WatchOS 4 for the iWatch and iOS11 for smartphones and tablets.

The Return of a Classic

There were a lot of news that kickstarted the WWDC17, but there are two that stand out from the lot, the relaunch of an Apple staple like the iMac and the new iPad Pro.

It has been three years since the last iMac with Retina Display hit the market and this new version was long overdue for the dedicated fan base of the brand that Steve Jobs founded with Steve Wozniak in 1976.

Now it returned with two versions: iMac and iMac Pro, in several sizes (21.5 and 27 inches) and great sets of features worthy of their reputation.

On the mobile department, there was no news regarding a new iPhone, but they did announce the iPad Pro, a larger, faster and more powerful tablet that can compete with a laptop’s performance.

At last but none the least, the home audio segment got a promising new product in HomePod, to be launched in December 2017.

Updates for everybody

In the software department, the Tim Cook-led company showed how almost every product in their catalog would get an update in 2017.

For starters, MacOS High Sierra will become the new standard environment for Mac, iMac, and all laptops.

It will feature the new Apple File System (AFS), a 64-bit architecture, the H.265 known as High-Efficiency Video Coding for crispier HD video with 40% better compression. The deployment will start in the Fall.

Following the steps of High Sierra, iOS 11 will take the realms of Apple mobile device platforms. It completely redesigned, improving video and photo processing, while also being accompanied by a refreshed and enhanced new App Store.

The iWatch was not left in the dark, and the device will show a bundle of improvements with the WatchOS 4.

As expected, Apple continues to find new ways to thrive and improve their products lines and corresponding software but now the question that will linger until all these announcements hit the market is: Will the public feel the level of excitement of other times?.
